Marine Corps Air Station Camp Pendleton Wildlife Inventory
Leatherman BioConsulting, Inc. was contracted to conduct four rounds of avian surveys using linear strip transects in each of the habitats on the station, deploy and operate remote motion detection cameras, and conduct time-constrained surveys to document mammal diversity and assist with visual encounter surveys to document the diversity of amphibians and reptiles.
Remote wildlife cameras were placed on existing wildlife trails and operated for six months. Camera stations were visited once a month to retrieve and replace SD Cards so photographs could be downloaded to record wildlife detections.
This was done in compliance with MCAS Camp Pendleton Integrated Natural Resources Management Plan and other biological resource planning documents, contracted to Gulf South Research Corporation to conduct a wildlife inventory and arroyo toad surveys to assist with developing strategies for the development of wildlife movement corridors and effectively managing natural resources using an ecosystem approach.
